Royce Keys only got a quick backstage segment after winning the Andre the Giant Battle Royal. Here’s what went down on WWE SmackDown after WrestleMania 42.
#9. Jacob Fatu is on a quest
Jacob Fatu opened SmackDown to say he’s ready to challenge Roman Reigns after stepping up to The Tribal Chief on RAW. Since WWE is going back to the Bloodline angle yet again, the Usos come out.
Jimmy says to go after Cody since he’s limping after WrestleMania, and then says not to listen to ‘these fools’ (the fans). Jey says it’s too late since Jacob already challenged Roman.
Solo and the MFTs interrupt to get in the middle of the mess. Fatu reiterates that if this message was so important, then Roman should have delivered it. CM Punk stated exactly this – Roman’s family fights his battle and shows up when he should.
#8. The Women’s United States Title Match
Giulia defended the Women’s United States Title against Tiffany Stratton after Stratton defeated Jordynne Grace last week. Stratton goes for her finisher after an early exchange, but Giulia pushes her, so she falls on the top buckle.
She hits a basement dropkick and a swinging neckbreaker on the outside. The former WWE Women’s Champion responds with a cutter. Giulia lands a Butterfly Suplex off the top for a near fall.
Stratton builds some momentum, but Kiana James grabs her legs. She grabs James, and Giulia collides with her advocate. Stratton takes advantage and goes for her moonsault for the win.
Giulia reverses it into a Koji Clutch submission. They trade knees. Giulia goes for her driver, but Stratton counters, hits the Death Valley Driver, and her moonsault for the win.

#7. A quick address from Paige and Brie Bella
The new WWE Women’s Tag Champs come out next. Brie welcomes Paige back, as do the fans. She says she lost her voice after a heck of a week. It was a rough road to get back here, but she’s home.
Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss interrupt despite being the team that was pinned. I guess they had to have Flair’s fireworks again. Shouldn’t this be Nia Jax and Lash Legend since they were the champs walking into WrestleMania?
Fatal Influence then attacks Paige, causing a no-contest. They blast poor Bliss with a tandem finisher to make an impact. Couldn’t Flair have eaten that move? The crowd isn’t happy.
#6. Cody Rhodes talks but says little
Rhodes knows he wouldn’t be medically cleared after his battle with Randy Orton. The Viper gave him his best shot (a punt) after the bell and is still standing.
Orton also isn’t on SmackDown. The WWE Champion calls out Sami Zayn for calling him the golden boy. No one steps up to him like on RAW. Time filler.
#5. The devaluation of the WWE Tag Team Titles continues
Damian Priest and R-Truth faced The MFTs in another title match. The champs controlled the early stages until JC Mateo distracted the official. The MFTs control things until Truth gets the hot tag.
He hits his series of John Cena moves, but Tonga Loa interferes again to distract the referee. Tama hits a spinning neckbreaker, but Priest barely breaks up the pin.
The MFTs strangely drive Truth to his corner for more offense, so Priest predictably gets a blind tag. The champs hit a Shatter Machine to retain the titles. Nothing special.
GRADE: C
#4. Oh great, the Gingerbread Man is back on SmackDown
Lil Yachty is still here, too. Great. As he’s on his way to the ring, Trick Williams decks a random person backstage. He’s a fan favorite, so I guess that justifies it.
The rapper says he’s going to stick around in WWE after WrestleMania. They say they’re gonna end the US Title Open Challenge, because that’s what fan favorites do.
Yachty then throws money around the ring to end the segment. The Gingerbread Man blasts both Trick and the rapper with a candy cane.
It’s Sami Zayn and the fans boo, despite Trick ending what was the best part of SmackDown for the last several months. Joe and Wade are more mad that Zayn ruined the “celebration” instead of Williams ending the Open Challenges.
#3. Danhausen and the Miz, comedy done right
Ahead of their match on SmackDown, Danhausen goes to Miz’s house and swims in his pool. He takes one of Miz’s Slammy Awards and runs into Maryse as he’s leaving.
The A-Lister throws a bowl of cinnamon at his rival, but he ducks, and it lands on Maryse. Kit Wilson tries to steal back the Slammy Award during the match. He distracts Danhausen for the Miz to take control.
While he’s on the mat, he curses the Miz again, and pyro smoke pops up to get in his face. Danhausen rolls him up for the win. The Miz chases him under the ring.

#2. Following RAW’s lead with the Women’s Champion
Rhea wants to be a fighting champion, so Fatal Influence comes out. Jacy gets a near Dominik Mysterio level of reception from the live WWE fans. The new WWE Women’s Champion says to stop while she’s ahead.
Nick Aldis books Jayne vs. Ripley like they’re won’t be any interference. The champ controls things until Lainey and Fallon distract her. Jayne gets her control during the ads. Nice planning.
Ripley hits Jacy with a Razor’s Edge, but Jacy kicks out. She lands a headbutt and goes for Riptide, but Fallon comes in, and we get another non-finish from WWE.
GRADE: B-, until interference
#1. Solo Sikoa vs. Jacob Fatu
The MFTs interfere early on as expected, so the Usos come out after Fatu told them he didn’t want their help. The relatives trade strikes after the final commercial break. Fatu takes charge, landing a Senton and 10 headbutts in the corner.
Tama distracts Fatu, allowing Solo to line up for the Spike. He ducks, but interference leads to Solo rolling Fatu up for two. Jacob takes the MFTs out with a suicide dive.
Solo hits a Rock Bottom and goes for a splash off the top, but Fatu kicks out. The Samoan Werewolf hits his pop-up Samoan Drop and moonsault for the win.
The MFTs attack Fatu after, with Tonga Loga getting a chair. The Usos trot down to the ring, but Fatu buries the MFTs by destroying them all. It’s a WWE burial reminiscent of John Cena and the Nexus.
