The former WWE Tag Team Champions, The Motor City Machine Guns, have officially ended their run with the company after just 19 months. They dethroned the new Bloodline early on to win the titles, but their success was never replicated. Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin remained a part of the SmackDown roster, but their run as a whole didn’t work out after the hot start.
It’s a shame because MCMG is a veteran presence in the locker room, and Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin are both former World Champions in TNA. They could have been a valuable assett had they been utilized accordingly, but they, like many other stars, fell victim to inconsistent booking of the tag team division.
It’s going to be interesting to see what’s next for MCMG, but one would think that they would be a great fit for the AEW Tag Team division. Getting cut by WWE doesn’t instantly mean one goes to AEW, but Sabin and Shelley in particular have value outside just their in-ring prowess as a tag team.
