Jalen Brunson was named the 36th captain of the team this year, and he had one of his most decorated seasons. He was awarded the MVP (most valuable player) for both the Eastern Conference Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Finals against the Spurs. Brunson also swept the ESPYs this year, winning the awards for Best NBA Player, Best Championship Performance, and Best Male Athlete.
WWE, too wasnt far behind in coronating The King of New York. Jalen Brunson was present at Madison Square Garden during tonight’s edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event. He walked out with World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns to headline the television special.
The OTC came out and put over the captain of the Knicks in front of the WWE Universe. He said, “Every champ in WWE needs a title. So, The Tribal Chief made some moves.” With that, Roman Reigns gifted Brunson with a custom-made World Heavyweight Championship dedicated to the captain of the New York Knicks.
Then, after a surprise distraction from another NBA star, much to the New York crowd’s chagrin, Roman Reigns’ SummerSlam challenger also came out to make a statement. But the King of New York and The Tribal Chief had the last laugh as they cleared the ring.
Roman Reigns then presented the NBA superstar with the Larry O’Brien Trophy, which Brunson had lifted as the captain of the NBA champions, the New York Knicks.
Interestingly, Danhausen, who is a cult hero among the New York Knicks fans, also had a match where he came out wearing new attire dedicated to the NBA Champions.
Another member of the Knicks team made an appearance during his match.
