Rhodes successfully defended the Undisputed WWE Championship against Randy Orton at WrestleMania 42. Orton formed an alliance with Pat McAfee on the road to WrestleMania but betrayed the NFL punter at The Show of Shows. The Viper attacked Rhodes following the loss and punted him in the head.
Cody Rhodes lost the title to Sami Zayn in a Triple Threat match at Night of Champions. Zayn only held the title for nine days before dropping it to CM Punk. The Second City Saint is scheduled to defend the championship against Zayn on next week’s edition of SmackDown in Mexico City. Roman Reigns will also be putting the World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Penta on the September 14 edition of RAW.
AEW World Champion Will Ospreay mocks Cody Rhodes’ WWE presentation
Will Ospreay recently took a shot at Cody Rhodes’ WWE entrance theme. Ospreay defeated Kenny Omega in the main event of All In 2026 last Sunday to become the new AEW World Champion.
In an interview with SHAK Wrestling, Ospreay admitted that he was not a fan of Rhodes’ current theme and revealed he preferred “Smoke & Mirrors” as his entrance song. Rhodes currently uses Downstait’s “Kingdom” as his theme song in the promotion.
“Smoke and Mirrors. The ‘Kingdom’ thing is wearing off on me now. I’m a little bit like, ‘All right, I’m over this s*** now,” he said. (H/T: Ringside News)
It will be fascinating to see if Randy Orton can defeat Cody Rhodes at Sunday Night’s Main Event and avenge his loss at WrestleMania 42.
