Bagwell was featured regularly on TV and competed at pay-per-views in the promotion. He found success during his tenure, winning the WCW tag team championship.

During a recent appearance on the Kings of the Ring Podcast, Bagwell shared some advice for the host, who is an aspiring wrestler. He said to make it into the wrestling business, you have to be all in, and he said he would advise moving in with parents to pursue the career.

He then talked about his own journey, saying he got a fast start with WCW, which wasn’t necessarily a good thing.

“From the time I graduated high school—not thinking about being a pro wrestler—I was at WCW in three years. I was in massage therapy school for 10 months, so it was a fast track, brother, to WCW. And that ain’t wrestling. That’s three years to WCW, bro. It was a real fast track, but I’m telling you, part of that fast track was that I was trying to be a wrestler 24/7. I woke up—it was gym, eat, tan, to the ring, train, tan. I didn’t have a job. I didn’t do anything else,” he said.

Buff Bagwell then mentioned that his wife at that time, who was a stripper, supported him as he continued to pursue his pro wrestling dream.

“My wife supported me. She was a stripper, and she supported me. I became a pro wrestler and got her out of the stripping thing. That was our teamwork. That was our plan, and that’s what we did,” he added.

Bagwell was married to his first wife, Alexis Rianja, from 1988 to 1994. His second marriage was to Gabby Randallson from 1996 to 2000. Currently, he is engaged to Stacy Brown.

Buff Bagwell’s WWE career failed to take off

Buff Bagwell was a consistent star for WCW, and when the company folded in 2001, he was one of the names signed by WWE.

His TV debut for the promotion was a WCW Championship match against Booker T on WWE RAW in July 2001. However, the match was panned by fans and critics.

He was then released from his contract by WWE shortly afterwards due to various alleged issues. Bagwell continued to wrestle on the independent circuit and also had stints with TNA.
