There are strange things happening at Talladega Superspeedway. Jason Kelce, the retired NFLSuper Bowl champion, is working on a Hendrick Motorsports pit crew and working live stops. Seriously!
We know that former college football and even former NFL players have made NASCAR their home after the gridiron, but Jason Kelce isn’t just a practice squad player. Now, no one is saying Kelce is making NASCAR his full-time gig, but he looked right at home in Corey Day’s pit box at Talladega.

Chris Gollon of Above the Yellow Line Media captured Kelce in action during the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race. He was handing off a gas can and helping finish up the pit stop. Looks like a natural.
Jason Kelce looks on before a game.
How about that? Jason Kelce and Hendrick Motorsports. We’ve seen celebrities do pit stop practices and check out what it takes to be a pit crew member, but Kelce is taking it to another level. The fact Hendrick trusted him to even help in the small way he did is major. Day is a legitimate threat to win this race.

It remains a little bit unclear what the extent of this partnership is. We’ll know Kelce is serious about NASCAR when we see him at Watkins Glen, I guess. Joking aside, it will be very fun to hear Kelce’s point of view on NASCAR, pit stops, and what these pit crews go through to make it all work on the track.
If Day does go out and win the race, Kelce has to stay on the crew. At that point, he’d be considered a good luck charm, right? It would be really awesome to see Kelce actually fuel a car during a live stop, but I think he has a long way to go before that happens.
