Honda’s latest sales report paints a rosy picture for the Japanese automaker, propelled by its hybrids and sedans. The company’s hybrids achieved their best August ever, with 36,776 sold, up 9.2 percent year-to-date.
The CR-V hybrid bolstered the brand’s hybrid sales. They were up 8.0 percent in August, with 20,437 sold, accounting for over half of the model’s overall sales of 37,607. Accord hybrid sales rose even more, up 16.4 percent, but Honda sold only 8,120 sedans.
Civic hybrid sales were actually down last month, tumbling 11.8 percent, and down 3.7 percent for the year. Despite that, Honda sold 21,976 Civics last month, an increase of 1.8 percent, and was the brand’s second best-selling model in August. The Accord was not far behind, with a 19.1 percent sales increase and 18,691 units sold.

The Rest Of Honda Motor
Sales for the Honda Passport increased 16.0 percent last month, with buyers digging the rugged TrailSport trim. HR-V sales also increased in August, up 4.3 percent, while Odyssey sales increased by 3.8 percent.
Pilot sales fell by 7.5 percent, while Ridgeline sales were nearly identical to a year ago, decreasing by 0.1 percent. Sales for the Prologue, Honda’s battery-electric vehicle, were down 80.9 percent. The automaker will end Prologue production after the 2026 model year.
Acura had a very good August, with sales up 6.5 percent. The MDX experienced the biggest boost, with sales jumping 66.3 percent from August 2025 to August 2026. So far this year, Acura sales are up 4.4 percent to 93,553.
Honda sales are also up for the year—3.4 percent. The automaker has just over 1 million vehicles through the first eight months of the year, hitting that mark one month earlier than last year. It sold 122,174 cars in August.
Motor1’s Take: Hybrids continue to propel automakers to record sales results, and brands that offer them are winning right now. Even with Civic hybrid sales down, nearly everything else the brand sells is popular with today’s buyers.
