“One hundred percent. I’ve said it a bunch. This is the crazy part—my contract technically ended at the start of August. I was with WWE for 16 years, so I had a really cool deal. The deal that just ended in August, I was able to do WWE stuff, I was able to do independents, I was able to kind of do third-party stuff. I was able to do all this stuff. It was a one-of-a-kind deal that was never seen before and will never be seen again. I had great people in great positions who got that deal for me. Again, it’ll never be done again,” he noted.

Breeze was released from WWE’s active roster back in June 2021, but he remained contracted through his work with UpUpDownDown and former star Austin Creed, who was known as Xavier Woods.

This contract had allowed him to remain part of the company and make appearances in NXT and on several programs still connected to World Wrestling Entertainment.

He was then able to remain contracted to the company while also working with independent promotions.

Tyler Breeze was a popular star with WWE fans

Breeze has been forced to correct fans on social media who believed that he was still under contract because he had recently made several appearances on NXT, up until September 2025. Despite not being part of the active roster, he had an agreement that ended back in August.

This means that Breeze is now able to make the move over to AEW if they make the call, and there are now no restrictions on where he works, even though it seems that the company has allowed him to continue to work outside of their domain despite being under contract.
