There were earlier advertisements for a shock WWE World Tag Team Championship match where The Vision’s Bron Breakker and Austin Theory will defend the titles against the surprising team of Cody Rhodes and Oba Femi. It was not official yet, but now the star has made it official with a message on X. The advertisement was for SmackDown, and now Rhodes has said the bout is indeed happening, reposted it, and called out the Boston crowd.

He also indirectly confirmed that it will not be a televised match, since WWE will not broadcast it. It will be a dark match instead. With Femi and Rhodes teaming, though, two stars who have previously competed against each other, it will be interesting to see what happens. Maxxine Dupri is also advertised to be ringside, given her on-screen relationship with Theory. How big her role will be remains to be seen, but if things go well for Rhodes and Femi, they may become the new champions.

While it’s rare for WWE to change titles in a dark match, it has happened often enough that it’s far from out of the realm of possibility. Samoa Joe beat Finn Bálor on a house show to become the NXT Champion. AJ Styles also defeated Kevin Owens to become the US Champion.

It remains to be seen what happens when the two rivals team up. Given Bron Breakker’s focus on Femi, this will also give the two the opportunity to lock horns.
