Finn Balor and Gunther exchanged words. This week’s show was one of the best since WrestleMania. Here’s the rundown of WWE SmackDown from Boston (August 14, 2026).

#7. Say it isn’t so!

Nick Aldis calls out WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green to start the show. Her broken orbital bone is too serious, so he requests that she relinquish the title. She recounts how her moments of triumph have been followed by extreme lows.

The WWE fans are firmly behind her. Chelsea doesn’t want to give it up because of how hard it was to get it in the first place. She likens her story to his at SummerSlam.

Green hands him the belt and leaves, but Aldis changes his mind. As a man, and not a GM, he gives her a chance. She has 30 days to get cleared.

#6. Gunther rains on Green’s moment; Gunther vs. Cardona

Gunther doesn’t care about the ‘sob story’ because he’s more concerned about what happened at SummerSlam. He mocks how she only climbed a ladder to win, while he pulled double duty.

He tells her to shut up, so Green mentions that she’s the only WWE Champion in the ring. Matt Cardona comes out as Gunther gets in her face. He taunts Cardona, but Cardona decks him. We get an impromptu match between the two men in jeans.

The action quickly spills outside with Gunther powerbombing Cardona onto the announce table and ring apron. Gunther argues with Chelsea, and the ref tries to get her down.

Cardona kicks Gunther in the groin, but he kicks out. The Ring General hits two powerbombs on Cardona before tapping him out with a Boston Crab.

Lash Legend and Nia Jax mock Green after the match. Nia wants a shot because she was cheated out of competing at SummerSlam. She tries to bully Chelsea, but Tiffany Stratton comes out to help. They take her out.

GRADE: B+ (For match)

#5. Baron Corbin unofficially restarts the United States Open Challenge

Carmelo Hayes hits a dive before Corbin enters the ring. He goes for the First 48, but Corbin catches him and hits a powerbomb. He kicks him out of the ring before slamming him into the ringside barricade.

Hayes rebounds by evading Corbin’s moves and hitting a springboard back elbow for two. He adds a Frog Splash for another near fall. Corbin battles back with a big boot, but Melo counters into a Sunset Flip.

He goes for another move, but Corbin hits Deep Six for a two-count. Corbin goes for End of Days, but Melo counters into two First 48s. He goes to the top, but gets pushed off to the outside. Corbin lands the End of Days to retain.

GRADE: B

#4. A history lesson with Kevin Owens

CM Punk’s music hits before Owens can say a word. The Best in the World mocks Owens throughout the exchange. Owens reveals the history between them, and how Punk was a big star in an independent promotion and berated him backstage.

Owens says every friend he has in the industry hates Punk, and Punk calls them losers. The Canadian adds that everything he does is disingenuous and fake. He only came back to WWE because he screwed things up everywhere else.

Punk mockingly claps as Owens runs down his accomplishments in WWE. The Best in the World claims Owens doesn’t like hard work before name-dropping how Owens lost the Universal Championship to Goldberg.

Owens says he didn’t punch Punk in the face 20 years ago because he would have ruined his career. Punk ends things by calling him fat. Again.

#3. Triple Threat WWE Tag Team Title Match

All three teams battle early on. The War Raiders and MFTs end up on the outside. Priest hits a crossbody on the four men. Back in the ring off the commercial, Priest neutralizes Erik and Ivar with kicks and shoulders in the corner.

Truth tags in, and they try to bomb Ivar. Ivar and Talla Tonga pull the champs off the top rope. Erik and Tama Tonga trade strikes until the Raiders hit a pop-up powerslam combo for two.

Talla comes in, but Ivar and Priest team up to hit him with a suplex. Truth locks in an STFU on Talla, but Erik breaks it up. The War Raiders powerslam Priest through the barricade. Tama pushes Erik over the announce table.

He goes for a back elbow, but Truth ducks it and hits John Cena’s moves. He goes for the AA, but Tama rakes the eyes and pushes him into Erik. The MFTs hit a tandem skyscraper powerbomb to win the WWE Tag Team Titles!

GRADE: B+

#2. Fatal Influence gains steam on SmackDown

Jacy Jayne is aggressive to take advantage of the earlier attack. She hits a Senton but misses a second, so Stratton dropkicks her in the face for two. Jacy rolls out of the ring. Lainey Reid gets on the apron to distract Stratton. Jayne hits a Backstabber.

The WWE Women’s Champion comes down to the ring to support Stratton. Both women go for the same move at the same time but knock each other down. Stratton hits a back elbow and Alabama Slam before going for a Swanton, but Jacy kicks out.

Jacy lands a kick, but Stratton hits a cutter. She hits her rolling Senton, but Jacy gets knees up on the moonsault. Stratton kicks out at two. They trade strikes, but Fallon Henley gets on the apron.

Green pulls her off. Stratton goes to the top but hits both with a crossbody on the outside to protect Chelsea. She rolls back in the ring, but Jacy blasts her with a spinning forearm to win the title!

GRADE: B-

#1. Sami Zayn gets screwed again

Randy Orton attacks Cody from behind as Sami makes his way to the ring for the match. He hits his draping DDT and goes for an RKO, but Cody blocks. it. He uses the steel steps to attack Rhodes.

They fight through the WWE Universe and end up on the announce desk. Orton traps Cody in the steel steps before grabbing a chair. He goes to hit him with it, but Cody kicks him in the groin. Cody then uses the chair.
