As Santana stood in the crowd with clear intentions of wrapping the title around his waist, Tony seemingly welcomed the threat as he raised the championship, sending a clear message to the newest member of the developmental brand that he was ready to welcome him on board as his challenger.

One of the major things the sports entertainment juggernaut does is rename well-known stars. They have changed the names of multiple stars; EVIL became Naraku, and Mariah May was reintroduced as Blake Monroe, among others. However, there is a positive update regarding the former TNA World Champion’s name change after officially signing with the Triple H-led brand.

The Stamford-based promotion posted a picture on its official Facebook account of the 35-year-old star’s NXT arrival and acknowledged that he made everyone feel his presence as their superstar. However, what caught fans’ attention the most was the company using his original name, “Mike Santana.”

This gives fans an update that the World Wrestling Entertainment might not change his name.

Before Santana showed up in WWE, rumors were hot about his arrival in the big leagues, and on his podcast, Matt Hardy predicted that Mike would end up in the Stamford-based promotion and wouldn’t be surprised to see him in the sports entertainment juggernaut.

“I mean that, that, that wouldn’t surprise me. I would guess that’s probably Mike Santana’s ultimate goal [is] to work for WWE. You know, most kids who grew up loving wrestling, their goal is to work for WWE at some point, have a WrestleMania moment, whatever else. That [him going to WWE] wouldn’t shock me at all.”

It will be interesting to see what plans Triple H and his creative team have in store for Mike in the coming months on NXT.
