WWE spent months building a compelling slow-burn dynamic centered on Asuka’s psychological bullying of Kairi Sane. The Empress of Tomorrow constantly demeaned and intimidated her Kabuki Warriors partner. Meanwhile, Kairi was hesitant and fearful, caught between loyalty and resentment. IYO SKY was supposed to teach Asuka a lesson and free Sane from this toxic friendship.

Fans invested in this storyline because it promised a satisfying climax where The Pirate Princess would eventually ditch her senpai. However, her abrupt release spoiled months of work, leaving this storyline hanging. Even though IYO SKY and Asuka are set to collide, things feel off. Therefore, bringing Kairi Sane back at Backlash for a surprise interference is the most logical and satisfying resolution.

Even if the company isn’t re-signing her, Triple H should bring the Japanese star back for a one-off appearance. During the final moments of the IYO vs. Asuka match at Backlash, Kairi Sane should emerge from the shadows and cost The Empress of Tomorrow, signalling months of pent-up frustrations. It would be poetic!! Following the match, Sane should embrace SKY in a heartfelt moment.

This segment would give this months-long storyline the closure that it deserves. Moreover, it would be a perfect way to give Kairi Sane a farewell, even if the company is not willing to re-sign her. WWE’s creative head, Triple H, can pretty much make that possible by bringing The Pirate Princess back at Backlash 2026.

Triple H needs to put an end to the IYO SKY vs. Asuka saga at Backlash

IYO SKY and Asuka have been embroiled in a heated feud for the past several months now. What began on a high note now feels stretched and monotonous. Triple H is however still continuing this saga without intending to end it. But WWE must put an end to this feud at Backlash 2026, where The Empress of Tomorrow faces The Genius of the Sky.

This rivalry has reached a dead end, where there’s nothing much left to explore. Besides, Kairi Sane’s departure from WWE has also made things quite complicated. Therefore, the best decision would be to give both Asuka and IYO SKY a fresh start after their upcoming match at Backlash.

The Genius of the Sky should embark on a new storyline on Monday Night Raw. She could go after the Women’s World Championship, trying to capture the coveted title from Liv Morgan. Triple H can also put SKY in the Women’s Intercontinental Championship picture on RAW, giving her a proper feud with Becky Lynch.

Meanwhile, Asuka could start a fresh feud with any current babyface on the roster. It’s been a while since fans have gotten to see her in a singles run. Therefore, it would give the WWE Universe something exciting to look forward to. However, it all depends on what Triple H has in store for both the former Damage CTRL members.
