However, Orton attacked him after the match. The Viper hit Rhodes on the head with the title, leaving him bloody and defenseless. The 14-time world champion wasn’t done, bringing back The Punt and kicking The American Nightmare’s head to end the show.

According to Cory Hays of BodySlam.net, Cody Rhodes suffered multiple injuries to his head and eye. Rhodes was cut on his forehead in the final moments of his match against Randy Orton.

It came from an errant punch by Orton, with Cody’s eyes also being shut closed. You can watch the reigning champ getting checked by medical personnel by clicking on this link.

But fair warning to those uncomfortable with blood, Rhodes was legitimately busted open in the video.

The injuries from his match against Randy Orton were too much that Cody Rhodes has arleady been pulled out of his WWE World appearance on Sunday.

Pat McAfee gone from WWE after Randy Orton’s loss

While some fans were unhappy with Pat McAfee’s involvement in the feud with Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton, the company tried to make it more interesting by having a stipulation added in the match.

If Orton lost to Rhodes, McAfee vowed that his pro wrestling career would be over and he’d be gone from WWE forever. McAfee bit off more than he could chew since even though he tried to interfere in the match and give Orton the win, he was on the receiving end of a vicious RKO.

With Rhodes capitalizing on what happened, he was able to pin his former mentor to send McAfee packing. It’s going to be an interesting episode of The Pat McAfee Show this Monday after what transpired at WrestleMania 42.

There were rumors before WrestleMania that one of the plans at Backlash is a tag team match between Rhodes and Jelly Roll against Orton and McAfee. But due to the stipulation and Rhodes getting punted, it will be interesting to see if the match will still happen.
