Seth Rollins vs Bron Breakker is officially in the books, seemingly ending the year-long storyline at WWE Backlash 2026. However, there seems to have been something concerning that happened during the match.

That’s exactly why we usually see the biggest matches sometimes open the show – or atleast the second-biggest match on the card. Think CM Punk vs Drew McIntyre at Bad Blood 2024, or even this year’s Hall of Fame, for that matter, where Stephanie McMahon opened the show while AJ Styles closed it. With that said, it’s not hard to see why the Seth Rollins vs Bron Breakker match was the second-most important on the card. They were possibly set to face each other at WrestleMania 42, but perhaps (it’s not confirmed), Bron Breakker was simply not cleared on time. That’s why Rollins vs Gunther, as random as it seemed, was made to fill that gap. Atleast WWE explained the story by now giving Gunther a WWE Title shot.
