Shawn Michaels is arguably one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time and has been in charge of NXT’s creative for the past few years. HBK made a shocking comment about his wrestling career while trying to motivate one of his NXT prodigies. The prodigy in question is none other than the NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo.
2026 saw a lot of major stars from NXT’s men’s division get called up to the main roster. Oba Femi, Trick Williams, Je’von Evans and Joe Hendry all got called up at the start of the year, which left the division in a difficult position. However, Tony D’Angelo has been holding down the fort as the brand’s Champion and has several challengers going after his gold. While speaking on Busted Open Radio, Shawn recalled a conversation he had with Tony regarding his title run while calling back to his own run as WWE Champion.
