Recently, Johnston, who was responsible for some of the most iconic wrestling themes, was interviewed on the All Access Entertainment podcast. During the interview, the former WWE figure admitted that he was willing to return. At the same time, Johnston is convinced that Triple H and the team will not be offering him a contract any time soon.
“I’d be happy to do it, but you have to be asked. The chances that Hunter is going to ask are close to zero. The chances that the WWE Music Group is going to call me up are zero, and the chances that the guy who is currently doing themes for WWE is going to call me up are zero. Why would you invite me in or invite somebody else in?” Jim Johnston said. [H/T Fightful]
The music in the Triple H era is like noise for Jim Johnston
The WWE legend was recently interviewed by The False Face. During the interview, Jim Johnston commented on how the music is in the current Triple H era.
Johnston mentioned that the modern themes are very generic and are not helping to elevate the wrestlers.
“It just sounds like noise to me, and all the themes just sound generic. Whether it was my music, or a Jimmy Hart theme, or an outside band thing, you used to be able to be making dinner in the kitchen with the TV in the other room, and you’d know who was coming out. You could almost follow the program from the other room.”
Johnston continued by stating that the current product has forgotten how important the role of entrance music is in creating stars.
“Now I just don’t think it’s like that at all. And for some reason, the powers that be have forgotten their roots of how powerful music is in creating stars. I further believe that’s why they’re not creating, either WWE or AEW, big stars anymore. There are no new Steve Austins. There are no Rocks around now. It’s because everyone’s sort of in this layer of generic. I don’t understand it,” Johnston said. [H/T WrestlingInc]
What are your thoughts on the current WWE Theme songs? Do you think Triple H should make changes to the music producers?
