On Instagram, Gunther reminded Aldis of their contract signing from SmackDown and claimed that he will turn the now-former SmackDown General Manager into a “legend”. He also promised to end his career and add his name to a list that already includes Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles.

At Saturday Night’s Main Event XLV, Aldis returned to WWE TV after being the victim of a brutal attack at the hands of The Ring General. He hit the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion with the Undisputed WWE Championship, costing him and Zayn a tag team match against Punk and Rhodes.

Aldis’ actions also made sure that Gunther and Zayn weren’t added to the Undisputed WWE Championship match between Punk and Rhodes at SummerSlam. The two superstars will cross paths in a singles match.

Mickie James reacted to Nick Aldis’ attack on Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event XLV

Nick Aldis returned to WWE TV at Saturday Night’s Main Event XLV and cost Gunther the opportunity to get added to the Undisputed WWE Championship match at SummerSlam.

This saw Aldis’ wife and former WWE star, Mickie James, react with a four-word message. On X, she posted the following:

“Revenge is so sweet.”

SummerSlam will mark Aldis’ return to in-ring action for the first time since 2023. He will look to get his hand raised against a former WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
