In a career spanning over a decade, Lance Anoa’i worked with promotions like MLW and Pro Wrestling NOAH, to name a few. He also made sporadic appearances for WWE, working as an enhancement talent.
WWE once introduced him as Roman Reigns’ cousin during his heated rivalry with Shane McMahon back in 2019. Roman Reigns also saved him from a beatdown at the hands of Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre.
Several years later, he would finally ink a deal with the Stamford-based promotion and was reportedly assigned to NXT under Shawn Michaels. Many fans expected him to reunite with Roman Reigns down the road, but things fell through.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t make his official television debut due to a series of injuries, which led to his release in 2025. The third-generation wrestler has since tried his hand at Power Slap.
As far as his wrestling future goes, it seems like the clock is ticking on his career.
Earlier today, Lance Anoa’i took to his Instagram handle to announce that he will be wrapping up his nearly 17-year career in March 2027. In a lengthy message, he thanked everyone who supported him throughout this long journey.
“After almost 17 years in professional wrestling, I will be officially calling time on my in-ring career in March 2027, once I reach that 17-year milestone. This journey has given me memories, friendships, battles, victories, losses, and experiences that I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported me, believed in me, shared a locker room with me, and helped me along the way. But now, it’s time to start preparing for a new chapter.”
He said he missed countless moments with his family because of this industry and now wants to spend more time with them.
“For so many years, wrestling has taken up my weekends, my time, and countless moments away from the people I love most. I’ve reached a point where I want to dedicate that time to my wife and my kids and be there for the moments that matter most. I also want to say how proud I am of my family and everything they continue to do in this business. I love what they’re building, I love being part of it in any way I can, and I will always support them 100% in everything they do going forward. Walking away from something you’ve dedicated nearly 17 years of your life to isn’t easy. Wrestling will always be a part of who I am, and I’ll always love this business. Thank you, wrestling, for everything you’ve given me. ❤️ 17 years. One hell of a ride. And in March 2027… it’s time for family. This isn’t goodbye just yet though. We still have a few months to go!”

Roman Reigns’ cousin, Lance Anoa’i, still has over six months left before he hangs up his wrestling boots for good. There’s no word yet on who his final opponent will be.
Now that the Bloodline is in full swing, will WWE bring him back for one last run with Roman Reigns? Only time will tell.
