Ric Flair revealed that he had a blood clot in his leg, as a result of which he was not going to be able to travel the five or six hours that it was going to take him to get to the venue.

“I have a blood clot in my leg, so I can’t travel the five or six hours that it takes me to get there. And that was during the time right before the flight. But I wanted to thank you all for coming out tonight, honoring me. I’m so honored and privileged.”

He opened with a video speech where he said that he was really happy to be receiving the award and that he was proud of it.

“I’m happy that I’m receiving this award. I certainly am very proud of it.”

He went on to say that he was sorry that he could not be there, because he would have wanted to greet them.

“So, once again, from my heart, I’m sorry I couldn’t be there in person. I wouldn’t have missed it. I would have enjoyed shaking hands with all of you. I see a lot of you at conventions over the years, but there’s nothing like receiving a reward and knowing that you’re appreciated, whether you’re there or not. I can’t thank you all enough.”
