Kross turned down the deal after he realized that Scarlett had not been made an offer to re-sign. Since then, he has continued to compete on the independent wrestling scene and recently won the MLW World Heavyweight Championship.

During an appearance on the Off The Ropes podcast, Kross reflected on his journey in WWE. He was asked whether he was prepared for his exit and had a plan about what to do next. The former NXT champion answered he never planned on leaving the promotion, thinking he would be there for life.

“I’ll be honest, I had no plan. I have said this for years. The story’s never changed. I always thought I was going to be a lifer with WWE,” he said.

The 40-year-old star said he believed showing up and giving it his best every week would have been enough but realized that’s not how things always pan out.

“I didn’t understand how that really worked. It’s like, that’s not actually your choice. You’re thinking that, ‘Hey, if I just show up at 110% every single week, that should take care of it, right?’ It’s like, No, that’s not really how it works,” he added.

Karrion Kross pitched a faction with recently released WWE stars

In late April, WWE released a bunch of names from its roster, and it was followed by the shocking exit of Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods.

The New Day members had been the mainstay of the tag team division for over a decade, and their departure became a big talking point.

Killer Kross also addressed the possibility of facing them on the independents. Taking to X, he noted that instead of having a match with Xavier Woods, he would like to team up with the tag team for a one-night-only faction, “The New Doomsday.”
