AJ Lee was one of the first few female athletes in the division who effectively sowed the seeds for the women’s revolution. On the latest season of WWE Unreal, an emotional Lee spoke about her legacy and finally enjoying the fruits of her labor.

She said that when she started fighting for change, she thought only the next generation would get to see it, and she wasnt wrong. But after her decade-long hiatus from WWE, she spoke about how awesome it was to actually see those changes play out during her time.

“I think when you fight for change, you don’t think you’re gonna get it. You think thats for the next generation. So I never expected to see any of the seeds I planted. But to know, everything I fought for I get to enjoy now, it was pretty awesome,” AJ Lee said.

AJ Lee drops contract bombshell

AJ Lee also spoke about the other changes in WWE.

On the same episode of WWE Unreal, Lee further illustrated the changes that she fought for before she first left the Stamford-based promotion in 2015.

She talked about the female athletes getting paid as much as their male counterparts. Comparing her current contract with her husband CM Punk’s, she said it felt like a “boss-ass moment.”

“One of the things I fought for back in the day wasn’t just for equal footing. It was let’s get paid the way the men get paid. To know I’m signing this contract where I am getting paid the way my husband’s getting paid, where I’m being treated like an equal, it was a boss-ass moment, I’m not gonna lie.” Lee said.

The Black Widow hasn’t been seen in WWE since her Intercontinental Title loss to Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 42, but she sure is happy with the changes in the company as things stand today.
