Gargano could believe that he came closer to defeating Punk than anyone expected and deserves another opportunity. Instead of waiting for it, he could cost The Second City Saint the championship in Mexico City.

Such a development would keep Johnny Gargano’s revitalized storyline moving while creating another chapter between him and Punk. It could also turn his comeback into one of SmackDown’s most intriguing stories.

#1. Drew McIntyre could return and attack CM Punk

If WWE wants to create the biggest possible shock, Drew McIntyre would be the ideal choice. McIntyre is a former Undisputed WWE Champion and has the credibility to immediately enter the main-event picture.

A surprise return in Mexico City would therefore feel considerably bigger than a routine interference angle. Imagine CM Punk finally surviving Sami Zayn after an exhausting championship battle. Just as Punk begins celebrating, McIntyre’s music hits. The Scottish Warrior marches to the ring and destroys the champion.

WWE could go even further by having The Scottish Warrior interfere before the finish, costing The Second City Saint the championship altogether. That would instantly give Drew a major storyline and create a fresh direction for the title.

Also, it would give CM Punk a dangerous new enemy while allowing Sami Zayn to remain central to SmackDown’s title scene.
