Despite that, the product has been harder to watch than usual. There’s usually one or two good matches out of five, and some storylines or booking decisions don’t make logical sense.

Triple H and TKO will likely brush off any criticisms as long as they’re raking in the cash. To regain some excitement and momentum, WWE must have a draft after SummerSlam for the next four reasons.

4. A WWE Draft would reset the deck on RAW and SmackDown

Despite having a loaded roster of over 100 stars, WWE seems to always book the same names in the main event. A star like Sami Zayn or Damian Priest will join it for one angle, but for the most part, the same five or six names rule the top of the men’s and women’s division.

For that reason alone, resetting the deck after SummerSlam makes sense. Some names may return to WWE, like Big Cass and Enzo Amore. Becky Lynch and Asuka could also return to action for a feud.

There isn’t room on RAW for three heel factions, especially since the Bloodline will undoubtedly be booked over the Vision and Judgment Day. It could also help solve the problem of shallow tag team divisions.

#3. The RAW women’s division is a record on repeat

The women’s roster on RAW has felt like it’s been going around in a circle since May. Sol Ruca won the Women’s Intercontinental Championship from Becky Lynch, taking The Man off programming.

AJ Lee was working the red brand but took off after losing to Lynch at WrestleMania 42. Asuka is on hiatus after losing to IYO SKY at Backlash Tampa in May. Ivy Nile and Natalya aren’t used.

Those factors have led to the same six women rotating opponents. SKY faces Liv Morgan for the Women’s World Championship at SummerSlam, but has feuded with her numerous times over the last three years.

Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez are fodder for Morgan when not tagging together. Maxxine Dupri is more eye candy lately, and Stephanie Vaquer has been absent with an injury.

That’s led to repetitive booking, as Rodriguez gets another shot at Ruca after already losing to her. She didn’t earn another shot, as the match was simply announced for next week. A draft would shake things up instead of booking the same stars in the same matches.

#2. WWE could make it a special event

WWE has traditionally made past drafts feel important. They’ll bring back Legends and have two blocks of programming dedicated to the roster reset. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon would even announce picks to sell the importance.

Since Saturday Night’s Main Event has been a failure, a draft could be used as a special event. It could see a few NXT stars like Nikkita Lyons, Lola Vice, or Tatum Paxley join the main roster. Mike Santana could debut during the draft.

There needs to be something worth watching other than another edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event between SummerSlam and Money in the Bank. RAW and SmackDown have had many more ups than downs this year.

A draft after SummerSlam could provide excitement and a soft reset to present a product that shows more logic, storytelling, and dedication to some different and deserving names.

#1. New champions could emerge after SummerSlam

WWE considers SummerSlam the second biggest PLE of the year. If that wasn’t the case, it wouldn’t be following WrestleMania’s lead of going to the two-night format this year.

Minnesota will be the spot for the first-ever two-day show, so WWE is trying to make it seem like a huge deal. Oba Femi and Brock Lesnar will do battle inside Hell in a Cell. Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins will face off for the umpteenth time.

Instead of saving it for WrestleMania 43, CM Punk and Cody Rhodes will clash over the Undisputed WWE Championship. Liv Morgan must lose the Women’s World Title since she’s done nothing but carry it since April.

SmackDown will have a ladder match to crown an Interim WWE Women’s Champion due to Rhea Ripley’s injury. Triple H should strongly consider having every major belt except Punk’s change hands.

Reigns hasn’t done anything interesting as World Heavyweight Champion and shows up sporadically. A draft could change up the rosters if major titles change hands in Minnesota and provide new challengers for those new champions.
