WWE SNME also ended with tag-team action, as The Vision’s Austin Theory and Logan defended their World Tag Team Championship against The Street Profits. The Profits were having success against the heel Superstars, but Bron Breakker interfered and played a vital role in his factionmates retaining their straps.
In this listicle, we look at three potential reasons why Triple H didn’t put the WWE World Tag Team Championship on The Street Profits (Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins) and instead had The Vision retain.
#1 To create a wedge between Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford
For weeks, the Stamford-based promotion has been trying to build potential tension within The Street Profits. Montez and Angelo haven’t been on the same page, and the main reason is their stance on Seth Rollins.
Rollins has developed a bad image due to his turbulent history, and as a result, he has no one in the company to aid him against The Vision.
The Street Profits were initially opposed to supporting Rollins, but Dawkins is now leaning towards helping The Visionary, while Ford is against the idea. Montez even took a spear in an attempt to save Angelo, who got into trouble while attempting to help Rollins against The Vision.
This loss could further drive a wedge between The Street Profits, leading to a breakup down the line, as both stars have the potential to be singles stars as well.
#2 WWE hasn’t even scratched the surface with Austin Theory and Logan Paul as Tag Team Champions
The Vision (Logan Paul & Austin Theory) have been the World Tag Team Champions for 54 days, and WWE hasn’t really done anything with them. Both stars have massive potential, especially Paul, who did a lot during his reign as WWE United States Champion. As an influencer, he also attracts massive mainstream attention and he can do the same for the World Tag Team titles if given proper time.
Meanwhile, The Street Profits have been tag team champions multiple times. That may be another reason why the Stamford-based promotion did not put the straps on the babyface tag team.
#3 Planting seeds for Seth Rollins and The Street Profits to join forces
The Vision is actively engaged in rivalries with multiple Superstars: Seth Rollins, The Street Profits, and Joe Hendry. The Visionary has been feuding with Breakker. Meanwhile, Logan and Austin are feuding with The Street Profits, and Hendry has just started, trolling the ex-United States Champion.
Breakker played a major role in costing Ford and Dawkins their chance at capturing the tag team straps and also attacked them after they lost.
The Street Profits lost the match, but Bron Breakker’s distraction could have planted seeds for Montez and Angelo to join forces with Seth Rollins against The Vision and take them out.
That said, the pointers above are speculative, and nothing has been officially confirmed yet. It will be interesting to see what plans Triple H and his creative team have in store for the Tag Team Championship on WWE Monday Night RAW.
