Although TKO was the one who informed the aforementioned talents of their releases, Triple H and Nick Khan were said to be the primary decision makers. According to reports, WWE released the majority of the stars to pave the way for new talent.

Moreover, SmackDown is reportedly going back to a two-hour format, which explains why several stars were shown the exit door.

Yesterday, Chris Sabin of the Motor City Machine Guns took to his X/Twitter handle to confirm that they are no longer with the sports entertainment juggernaut.

Chris Sabin also asked his fans to check out their band “GRPPLNG.”

“Yup, they released us. Anyways, check out our band GRPPLNG here’s a link to pre order our 4 song EP. Love you all.”

You can check out his tweet below:

What’s next for Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley after WWE exit?

The Motor City Machine Guns’ WWE stint lasted less than two years, but they made the most of their time.

Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley captured the Tag Team Championship by dethroning the MFTs on the October 25 episode of SmackDown in 2024. They held the gold for 42 days before losing it to #DIY.

Now that their WWE run is in the rearview mirror, fans have been wondering what’s next for the Motor City Machine Guns. The two men could be AEW-bound if the recent reports are to be believed. TNA is also willing to welcome them with open arms.

Tony Khan was interested in signing the Motor City Machine Guns a few years ago. Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley will serve their 90-day non-compete clause before joining elsewhere.

We at Sportskeeda Wrestling wish them the best in all of their future endeavors.
