YouTube golf has exploded in popularity over the past half-decade, and one of its most popular stars made a splash Monday.

Peter Finch advanced through Open Championship local qualifying at Caldy Golf Club in Birkenhead, England. Finch shot 1-under 71, which included an eagle on the course’s par-5 11th, to finish at the top of the leaderboard.

Finch’s YouTube channel, Peter Finch Golf, has amassed more than 700,000 subscribers, and he’s made content with other internet golf stars like Grant Horvat and Rick Shiels, as well as some big professional names like Luke Donald and Lee Westwood.

His production crew was on site at Caldy to document his performance in local qualifying.

Finch will tee it up again at final qualifying at Dundonald Links on July 1 with the chance to play in the 153rd Open Championship, which takes place July 17-20 at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland.
