Meanwhile, Gunther is apparently not averse to the possibility of facing Lesnar. The Ring General is currently focussed on pursuing the Undisputed WWE title, but has not ruled out retiring Lesnar down the line. Speaking in an interview on Italian Wrestling Channel, Gunther stated:
“I wasn’t even there on that day at Mania, because it was the day after me, when a lot of it happened with Brock, so I only saw it in a headline and that’s literally all the info I had. Obviously he’s back now, but I haven’t thought about it. I’m really focused on what I’m doing with Cody now. I will be challenging for the WWE Undisputed Championship in Italy, and that’s my full focus right now. After I beat Cody then Brock can challenge me, and we’ll do that.”
You can check out his comments below:
Gunther is not bothered about his current status in WWE
While Gunther has held the World Heavyweight Championship twice so far, he currently does not hold any belt.
When asked about his belt-less status right now in the active scene, The Ring General appeared completely at ease and stated that the current situation allowed him to pursue goals.
“Got to have goals to reach I guess right? But that’s the ultimate goal of every professional wrestler is you want to be a champion. So that’s what I’m here to do.”
Gunther is certainly a dominant name in the active roster and a formidable opponent for anyone in the ring. Whether he will be the one to retire Brock Lesnar down the line is something only time will tell.
