Backstage, Paige lauded Chelsea Green’s comments from last week. She backed up Green and Tiffany Stratton against Fatal Influence. Finn Balor welcomed Kevin Owens back but wished he had informed him of his return at SummerSlam.
Gunther also confronted and insulted both men. Here’s the rundown for SmackDown from Toronto (August 21, 2026).
#7. Sami Zayn and WWE’s problem with logic
Sami kicks off the show backstage with Nick Aldis, pointing out that he’s had the rug pulled out from under him every time he tries to earn a shot at the WWE Championship.
He mentions Randy Orton, and Orton sneaks up behind him. Cody Rhodes then calls Orton out from the ring.
Aldis prevents them from bashing each other’s skulls in by saying neither will get a WWE title shot if they touch each other ahead of Sunday Night’s Main Event.
So they can get a title shot at some point, but nothing for Zayn. The Viper taunts Cody for always being a ‘good guy’ and not going to the dark places he needs to.
#6. Damian Priest and R-Truth get a WWE Tag Team Title Rematch
Priest battles Tama Tonga to start things off. Tama makes Truth pay for wasting time playing to the crowd. He quickly tags in Talla and sends Truth to the outside.
The middle portion of the match takes place during the commercials. Priest gets the hot tag, taking out both opponents. He hits a clothesline off the top, but Talla kicks out at one. They both go for chokeslams, but Talla blasts Priest with a Lariat.
Truth and Tama tag in. Truth hits John Cena’s 5 Moves of Doom. He lands the Attitude Adjustment, but Talla breaks up the pin.
Priest takes care of Talla briefly on the outside. Truth nearly gets a three-count off a rollup back in the ring. Tama hits a spinning neckbreaker before the champs hit a High/Low for the win.

#5. It’s finally time for Blake Monroe’s SmackDown in-ring debut
Monroe attacks Giulia as she makes her entrance for the match. Back in the ring, Blake headbutts Giulia and hits her with a knee.
She lands the Gotch Style Neutralizer before leaving. Monroe claims her debut should be on a much bigger stage and for the WWE Women’s Title.

#4. The problem with rematches, part 2
Trick Williams wants another shot to win back the United States Title, so he calls out Baron Corbin. Corbin scares Lil Yachty out of the ring.
Williams says he was cheated out of the title but forgets Yachty also interfered both times by blasting Corbin with a Kendo Stick. The champ says the title is getting a haircut before saying Williams isn’t getting another rematch.
The ‘good guys’ then team up on Baron. Corbin agrees to give Trick another rematch – if he can get Yachty in the ring for five minutes at WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event.
If the rapper lasts for five minutes, Trick can have his rematch. Yachty agrees. Since everyone but Sami can get a rematch, Yachty will win.
#3. A bad night for babyfaces
Lash Legend works Tiffany Stratton’s ribs. Stratton sends Legend to the outside and goes for a Suicide Dive, but Lash catches her and slams her into the ringpost. Stratton tries to fight back, but Lash overpowers her.
Tiffy finally hits a cutter before going to the top. She misses a Swanton Bomb but gets a near fall with a Crucifix-style pin. Stratton goes to the top, but Lash pushes her as she goes for the Prettiest Moonsault Ever.
Legend hits the Lash Extension for the win. Lash and Nia Jax attack Stratton after the match until WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green comes out with a Kendo Stick.

#2. The mystery partner reveal
After weeks of warning the MFTs about his revenge and a mystery partner, we finally get to see who it is. Shinsuke Nakamura says it’s time after weeks of waiting in the dark.
It turns out to be Kyoki, the man formerly known as Hiromu Takahashi in New Japan Pro Wrestling. They both claim to be unafraid of the MFTs and other monsters. They’re coming for the WWE Tag Team Titles.
#1. A WWE Title Match in Toronto
CM Punk comes out in a hockey mask. Neither man wants to wait through the introductions. Kevin Owens comes out like a house of fire. He decks Punk and clears off the announce desk, but Punk stops him and puts it back together.
The former Universal Champion goes for a Stunner, but Punk counters with a neckbreaker. Owens batters Punk with a big clothesline off the commercial break. He hits a Cannonball in the corner for a two-count.
The Best in the World rolls out of the ring when Owens goes to the top. They end up by the announce desk. Owens puts Punk through the table with a Frog Splash. He hits a Swanton for a near fall.
The Champ counters out of a pop-up powerbomb. He taunts the crowd before hitting a top-rope elbow drop. Owens kicks out, so Punk locks in the Anaconda Vice. Punk hits two neckbreakers before calling for the Go To Sleep.
Owens catches the leg and locks in a Sharpshooter. He makes it to the ropes. Owens goes for a Stunner, but Punk pushes him into the referee. Punk goes for Go To Sleep, but Owens counters out and pushes Punk into the referee.
He hits a Stunner and pins Punk, but the referee is motionless on the outside. Punk hits a GTS as Owens looks at the downed official. He tries to rouse the referee, but Sami Zayn comes out of the crowd to shove Punk into the ringpost.
He tosses Punk back into the ring, and Owens hits a Stunner. Zayn puts the referee back in the ring, but Punk kicks out! Sami grabs the title belt and slides it into the ring. Owens picks it up but doesn’t want to win that way.
He tosses the belt into Sami’s face on the apron, and Sami blasts him with it instead. Punk hits a GTS for the win. After Punk celebrates, Sami blasts him with the title belt. Owens gets back in the ring, and Zayn blasts him with it.
