This year marks the first time that Triplemania, SmackDown, and Monday Night RAW all took place in the same arena. It was Arena CDMX, in Mexico City. Considering the huge success concerning ticket sales and merchandise, and the support from the fans, WWE might be planning to host Triplemania 35, RAW, and SmackDown together as well.
This past weekend, fans witnessed multiple championships change hands.
Multiple new WWE Champions were crowned over the weekend
The big weekend in Mexico City featured multiple championship matches, and some of them crowned new champions. The first major title change took place on SmackDown. Sami Zayn had challenged CM Punk for the WWE Undisputed Championship. Thanks to some outside interference from Kevin Owens, Zayn hit Punk with the Helluva Kick and pinned the Second City Saint to become the new Undisputed Champion.
On Triplemania 34: Night 2, Flammer defended her AAA Reina de Reinas Championship against La Catalina. After a hard-fought battle, Catalina managed to dethrone Flammer. The main event of the night was the AAA Mega Championship match between the champion Dominik Mysterio and El Grande Americano, where Americano finally dethroned Mysterio to win his first major World title.
It is also worth noting that this past weekend, the Stamford-based promotion was part of a South American Tour. During their event in Chile, Stephanie Vaquer defeated Liv Morgan to become the new Women’s World Champion.
