Now, Dexter Lumis has reunited with his “wife” from NXT, Indi Hartwell. In an epic vignette he posted on Instagram, Lumis had his hair chopped off and beard shaved, starting afresh as he gets ready for July 24th, 2026 – the day he can finally wrestle again. You can watch the full video below:
The reason why WWE disproportionately released The Wyatt Sicks, Dexter Lumis, and SmackDown stars
If you look at the names of the WWE stars released, you’ll notice that there was a disproportionate number of SmackDown stars. Other than Kairi Sane, Zoey Stark (who was injured), and Santos Escobar (who never made his official return or was assigned to a brand), only SmackDown superstars were released. But why did that happen?
While Fightful Select reported that the cuts were made to make way for new talent, another reason is reportedly that SmackDown is moving back to two hours in the coming weeks. This means that there is less need for that many superstars. It’s very unfortunate because veteran names like the Motor City Machine Guns were cut despite being well-respected veterans of the locker room.
The Wyatt Sicks spent half a year feuding with The MFTs, and this received widespread criticism. They held on to the WWE Tag Team Titles for a while, but when it was time to make changes to SmackDown, the company simply decided to cut all the members of The Wyatt Sicks – Bo Dallas, Erick Rowan, Nikki Cross, Joe Gacy, and Dexter Lumis.
We can only hope that the future is bright for all the members. For Dexter Lumis, this presents a fresh start after several years in WWE, and it only seems appropriate that he would completely change his look and reinvent himself as he looks forward to the next chapter of his career.
Considering the levels of talent we’re talking about, it’s unlikely that any of the Wyatt Sicks members will have trouble finding work outside of WWE. They will, of course, all have to wait until July 24th for their three-month non-compete clause to come to an end.
Our best wishes go out to all the superstars who lost their jobs.
