In the past, Cody Rhodes has discussed his ambitions to take the jump into politics, and on other occasions he has brushed aside such suggestions. This time he had a more detailed plan when discussing his future on SI Media With Jimmy Traina.

He talked about staying in pro wrestling and working in creative while also bringing up following The Rock’s and Batista’s footsteps in Hollywood. He then discussed the “unpopular choice” of entering US politics.

“What does the political world look like? In Georgia, there is a lot of political positions. What does that look like?… Very much so (would it intrigue him?). I grew up loving political theater… but I feel like I grew up in a time where people with a modicum of fame or influence surrounded themselves with really smart people, someone who’s got a green initiative, and someone who’s actually been looking at the planet now. They surrounded themselves with smart people, and they were just the face of it. They had a great team and a great cabinet,” he said.

The 40-year-old star said the political environment is difficult now, which makes it an “unpopular” choice, but he’s still intrigued by it.

“Compared to now, it’s difficult. That’s why I say it’s an unpopular choice. Everything is so divided and negative. I miss the days where on the debate stage the guy would say, ‘Oh, congratulations on your anniversary.’ It’s just wildly volatile, which is why it’s unpopular, don’t talk about it often, but it’s intriguing to me,” he added.
