In an interview with Nick Teodoro, Striker was asked whether he was interested in returning to pro wrestling after a hiatus of more than a decade. Striker said he had heard some rumblings online about his comeback, but clarified that none of the promoters had reached out to him. However, he remains open to the idea of coming back to WWE for one more run.

“I’ve heard those rumblings too, but I got a little funny feeling in my stomach because I was like, ‘Wait a minute, no one called me,’ you know. Of course I would like to be. It’s special and I can apply that to anything. Anyone out there that has a regular job, you’re a plumber. I was a teacher. Right now I have kids. I’m going to go back into teaching if I can find something out here in Long Island. Anyone out there, help. You still want to be the best that you could be. I don’t know, I’m kind of rambling here,” he said.

Striker started his career as an in-ring talent. He landed in the big leagues in 2005 and worked in ECW and WWE with his villainous teacher persona.

His mic skills have always stood out, and he transitioned to commentary in 2008; his stint with the company lasted till 2013.

Matt Striker admits his mistake following Matt Riddle’s WWE release comment

Back in 2024, during an MLW event, Matt Riddle faced Jacob Fatu, with Matt Striker on commentary. During the match, Striker heaped praise on Riddle and said he could not comprehend WWE’s decision to release the former RAW tag team champion.

He referred to Riddle as a “mega-million star,” said he didn’t know what he had done, and admitted he didn’t understand how the company let him go.

“Let’s talk about the elephant in the room. The court of public opinion would love to see Jacob Fatu slap the taste out of Matt Riddle’s mouth. But the court of public opinion does not convict, I’m sorry. I know it’s the world in which we live but, it’s not the case,” Striker said.

However, his comments did not sit well with fans. After facing major backlash, Striker admitted he was wrong.

“I’ve given this a lot of thought. Could not sleep. My critics are right. I was wrong. Tone deaf. Trying to use the guise of art or character portrayal is self preservation. Thank you to those that shone light on this. It is now on me to stand in that light. I will be better,” wrote Striker.

He reportedly deleted the tweet hours later.

It will be interesting to see whether Striker comes back to WWE for one more run.
