He also captured the Intercontinental Championship by defeating Big E at WrestleMania 37. Over the last few years, he jumped from NXT back to the main roster and even made several appearances on AAA Lucha Libre. He was released from the company in April this year alongside several other big names. As per a recent report by Fightful Select, TNA Wrestling has internally discussed adding Apollo Crews to their roster. Many fans are expecting Crews to be Mustafa Ali’s mystery challenger at Slammiversary but it isn’t possible as there is still time left on his 90-day non compete clause.
It will be interesting to see what’s next for Apollo Crews now that he’s a free agent.
Apollo Crews thanked the fans after getting released from WWE
Apollo Crews was released from WWE back in April marking the end of his 11-year long tenure with the company. His release was part of the roster cuts that the company makes annually. Crews confirmed his departure and penned down a heartfelt message on his Instagram handle.
Thank you, @wwe, for eleven incredible years. Wow. Eleven years. What an incredible journey. I feel blessed to have had a career in WWE that lasted that long. Thanks to everyone who sent me messages or texts. Even if I didn’t reply, just know I’m grateful,” he wrote.
He also added that he was fortunate enough to only suffer one major injury throughout his career.
“Throughout my career, I was fortunate to suffer only one serious injury that sidelined me for a significant amount of time. I’ve been lucky to experience many amazing moments during my time with WWE. It’s been a fun ride, and I appreciate everyone who supported me along the way. To everyone I shared the ring with… thank you. All things come to an end. This is my time.”
Fans are hoping to see the former United States Champion back in a squared circle again soon.
