As two of the most tenured stars on the roster, their exit left many fans baffled. It was reported that TKO had asked them to restructure their current contracts and take a pay cut, which led to The New Day choosing to leave.

While this decision didn’t make a lot of sense to many fans, Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff explained why it was the right call. On his 83 Weeks podcast, the former RAW GM was asked whether he was surprised to see The New Day leave.

“Nope. For all the reasons you just stated. I mean, I agree with everything that you just said, which probably is the reason why their time was essentially up. It had played itself out,” he said.

Bischoff said back in the day when he was in charge of WCW, he was often accused by the wrestling community of holding on to stars past their prime. He added that New Day may have been asked to renegotiate a contract that was agreed to under different work conditions. He said that contract may have been signed with the agreement of working 250 days for a year, which isn’t the case anymore.

“So, can the company afford to pay someone who was going to be providing services at a certain level when that’s no longer required? You can for a while, but you can’t indefinitely,” he added.

Update on Big E’s future after The New Day’s exit from WWE

With Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods’ exit from WWE, fans wondered what did it mean for the future of Big E. The trio had been massively successful as part of The New Day and became close friends.

While Big E retired from in-ring action following his neck injury, he has remained a part of the company. He has taken up the role of an analyst, often making appearances on the pre-show and post-show panels during premium live events.

Even though, his friends are no longer a part of WWE, he is expected to stay in his role. As per Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select, E is still considered a valuable member of the analyst team.
