The Rock is set to make a major physical transformation

The man The Rock is working with is none other than Benny Safdie, who directed his critically acclaimed movie, “The Smashing Machine”. While The Smashing Machine was far from a box office hit, The Brahma Bull’s performance was praised as being the most authentic of his career.

This is because he historically took the safe bet of producing movies that aren’t exactly critically acclaimed, but sell well at the box office. Ever since 2024, he seemed to have wanted to take a new direction in his career, opting for more serious roles. One of those roles even includes him starring in a Martin Scorsese project which is based in Hawaii in the 1960s and 1970s and could feature Leonardo DiCaprio as well.

Either way, Dwayne Johnson said in an interview at D23 that he will be undergoing a physical transformation to play a man in his 70s in a film known as “Lizards music”. Benny Safdie also featured in the Christopher Nolan blockbuster, “The Odyssey”, where he played Agamemnon – a character that was heavily promoted due to his intimidating presence.

Either way, this is another interesting project for The Rock, who seems interested in entering a new phase of his career. After playing it safe with hit after hit in the 2010s, he appears to want to completely reinvent himself and prove that he is more than a one-dimensional actor that many people accuse him of being.
