The Sunday leaderboard at the Valspar Championship will have no shortage of great storylines.
Although some of the names might be less recognizable, the leaderboard on Sunday at the Valspar Championship will be filled with potential storylines as players seek career milestones and first wins.

First up is the leader Sungjae Im, who for many years was a PGA Tour Ironman and took few weeks off during the regular season. He’s now five years removed from his last PGA Tour win, and this would be a huge boost heading into the year’s first major, where he is already exempt.

Next up, we have Brandt Snedeker. Last time he made headlines on the golf course, it was as an assistant captain during the Ryder Cup – but now the 2026 U.S. Presidents Cup captain is only one round away from his first win since 2018.
A lot can be contributed to a putter switch, after using the same putter for more than 20 years. He had this to say after his round on Saturday

“When you putt well, the rest of the game gets really easy. So it’s been a lot of fun to play stress-free golf, because I know if I get on the green somewhere I got a chance of making a putt, which is a lot of fun. I had the same putter since I’ve been on tour, so for 23 years I used an old Odyssey Rossie II, and then I switched to the Spider, TaylorMade Spider mallet, the one everybody seems to be going to, it has been winning out here. And I tested it at home and it worked really well, felt like it made my stroke a little bit better, and sure enough kind of came to fruition this week”

Either way, unlike his Ryder Cup Captain Keegan Bradley, I don’t think Sneds has the same goals of making his own U.S team, even though the win would be a big one and get him to 10 career PGA Tour victories.

As for potential first-time winners, both Marco Penge and David Lipsky are going for their inaugural PGA Tour wins, and they would both be huge. It would mean a Masters invitation for David, and for Marco, it would likely put him inside the top 30 in the FedEx Cup race, and on his way to making the Tour Championship in Atlanta.
Now we wait and see how it all plays out tomorrow.
