Sami Zayn kicked off this week’s Friday Night SmackDown, ready to lay out his next move on the blue brand. He then criticized the fans for turning their back on him. Before he could finish, Cody Rhodes made his way out and congratulated Sami. The American Nightmare tried to leave, but Sami stopped him, and then Main Event Jey Uso entered the scene to confront the champ.

The Bloodline member congratulated The Underdog from the Underground with a hug, but made it clear that he wanted the title for his family. Cody mocked Jey’s reasoning, prompting a brief exchange between them.

Sami Zayn quickly shut both men down, telling them to get to the back of the line and stay away from him. Moments later, RAW General Manager Adam Pearce, filling in for the suspended Nick Aldis, interrupted and announced that Zayn would defend the Undisputed WWE Championship next week on the Monday Night Show in Chicago.

Pearce also announced that Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso would face off later in the night in a No. 1 Contender’s Match to determine Zayn’s first challenger.

As Sami Zayn starts a new chapter as champion, it will be intriguing to see whether Jey Uso or Cody Rhodes becomes the first to challenge for the title.
