According to a recent report from WrestleVotes on Fightful Select, a high level member of the company apparently tried to take his side when negotiating with TKO. Furthermore, the report also claimed that Sheamus was not averse to working in AEW, even if it was for a short while.

For now, nothing is known for certain about Sheamus’ future intentions. However, it is not far-fetched to assume that him joining AEW would boost the company’s standing among fans significantly.

A WWE veteran has previously commented on Sheamus’ on-screen character

According to Eric Bischoff, Sheamus’ on-screen character lacked a certain depth.

Speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast, the WWE veteran claimed that if he was in charge of Sheamus’ booking, he would have made The Celtic Warrior’s character much less animated. He said:

“I loved his character. I love the idea of Sheamus, but I was tired of seeing the parody of the typical Irish character. I felt like the kind of animated, typical badass Irish guy had been done to death. I saw so much more in him. I would have made his character more relatable and current, Bischoff said. I felt like the kind of animated, typical badass Irish guy had been done to death. I would have liked to have seen Sheamus come back with the same attitude, the same motivations, the same points of view on things, but in a less animated kind of lucky charms type characterization,” Eric Bischoff said.

What is next for Sheamus remains to be seen.
