It is well known that Alessandro Bastoni has been identified as the ideal profile to lead Barcelona’s backline this summer.
However, turning that interest into a concrete deal is proving far more complicated than anticipated.

This is because fresh information from Corriere dello Sport suggests that Inter Milan are in no mood to negotiate on favourable terms.
Rather, the Serie A side values Bastoni highly and has no intention of entertaining offers below €70 million.
From their perspective, losing such a key defender would only be justified by a premium fee.
Barcelona, on the other hand, are operating within strict financial limits.
Their initial approach, a proposal in the region of €45 million, has done little to move the needle.

As a result, the gap between both clubs remains significant, and at this stage, there is no indication that Inter are willing to soften their stance.

Talks are ongoing
While the communication channels between Barcelona and Bastoni’s representatives remain open, the process is unlikely to advance unless the defender himself signals a willingness to leave.
Without that push, Inter have little incentive to even consider negotiations.
From the Catalan club’s point of view, patience appears to be the chosen strategy.
Rather than forcing a deal, Barcelona are closely monitoring how the situation evolves, fully aware that market dynamics can shift quickly, especially if the player’s stance changes.
Lastly, even if the player agrees to push for a move, signing him will be difficult as Barcelona will have to sanction heavy sales in order to raise funds for the transfer of this magnitude.

Until then, Bastoni remains a priority target, but unless there is movement either from the player or in Inter’s valuation, Barcelona’s pursuit risks staying exactly where it is – ambitious, but out of reach.
