Sergio Garcia is among the players in the field for LIV Golf Mexico City, which is going ahead as planned despite rumours of the league being shut down.
Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) is reportedly close to ending its support for LIV Golf, which could struggle to survive if that is the case.

But LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil has since confirmed to players that the 2026 season will continue without interruption.
That starts in Mexico this week, where Fireballs GC captain Garcia has now addressed the rumours of significant issues for LIV Golf moving forward.

When asked in his pre-tournament press conference if he had any information to share on the matter, Garcia said in Spanish: “No, honestly, we haven’t heard anything other than what Yasir (Al-Rumayyan, LIV Golf Chairman) told us at the beginning of the year.
“That he’s behind us, that they have a long-term project.

“And well, honestly, you know how these rumours are.
“There are always a lot of them.
“And I can’t tell you anything more than what we already know.”

Sergio Garcia admits he made ‘too many mistakes’ at The Masters
Garcia will be eager to focus solely on the golf itself when the tournament gets underway, as will all of the players.
The Spaniard is one of the LIV Golf stars who is playing for the first time since The Masters, which concluded at Augusta National on Sunday.
He was one of five LIV Golf players to make the cut, but Garcia was heavily criticized by fans after completely losing his temper during his final round.

The former champion went on to finish 52nd of 54 players to play the weekend, and has now been asked if the team format of LIV Golf makes him approach the game more positively.
“Well, obviously when you’re surrounded by your teammates and friends, you always feel a little bit better, right?” he said.
“But anyway, I think that in the end, what we’re all trying to do is play at the highest level possible. Obviously, I’m trying to find my rhythm.
“And well, obviously last week there were things I did pretty well because, even though I wasn’t feeling great, making the cut there isn’t easy.
“But yeah, there were too many mistakes. Right? Maybe that’s why I didn’t finish as well as I would have liked.

“But anyway, I’m happy to be here with my friends and teammates from the Fireballs. And honestly, we had a really good practice yesterday. We enjoyed it a lot, and well, let’s hope it’s a good week.”
Garcia enters LIV Golf Mexico City sitting 30th in the individual standings, with his Fireballs side eighth in the team standings.
Ripper GC top the table, while Garcia’s fellow Spaniard Jon Rahm leads the individual table, having clinched that title in each of the last two seasons.
