During the match, Roman Reigns struck CM Punk in the head with the steel steps. The attack busted The Second City Saint open. Since the match was a singles contest, using foreign objects is prohibited.

And it’s not like the referee was knocked out during the spot. Reigns did it in front of the official, and he just watched on. Punk was hanging upside down from the corner of the ring, and Reigns took advantage of it, hitting several Superman punches before striking The Second City Saint with the steps.

The referee supposedly didn’t want to ruin the WrestleMania main event with a DQ, but then again, officials are supposed to be objective and impartial. When CM Punk wanted to hit the low blow on Reigns, he had the courtesy to distract the referee first. However, Roman Reigns didn’t care if the referee saw it or not.

If Reigns had been disqualified, CM Punk would have retained the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 42.

Roman Reigns shares his honest thoughts on CM Punk after defeating him at WrestleMania 42

After winning the World Heavyweight Championship, Roman Reigns appeared on the WrestleMania 42 Post-Show, where he shared his thoughts on his rival, CM Punk. The OTC mentioned that he and Punk don’t see eye-to-eye, but Reigns had appreciation for The Second City Saint as a competitor.

“The fact that I’m out here as The Tribal Chief and I can still hear a couple of people calling for CM Punk, you have to respect that. Do I respect the man and his personal life? I don’t know. But when it comes to when he steps into the arena, when the ring is set up, and the pyro is going to go off, I got a lot of respect for a man that steps into the arena and performs in front of all these people. He puts his heart, he puts his soul, he puts his physicality on the line. Do we see eye to eye? Hell no. Are we cut from the same fabric? Hell no. But at the same time, we are part of the same fraternity. There’s very few of us,” Reigns said.

The Head of the Table is once again at the top as the World Heavyweight Champion. Reigns even stated that he would be appearing more frequently this summer. There are several challengers fans want Roman Reigns to face, like Oba Femi and Bron Breakker. It will be interesting to see how the OTC’s reign as world champion takes shape.
