Birmingham City and Preston North End will look to end on a positive in their final three games of the season despite being out of contention at both ends of the Championship table.

The two sides meet at St Andrew’s on Wednesday night (kick-off 19:45 BST) with neither able to finish in a play-off race or be relegated.

Blues have won just one of their past six games (D2 L3) but have at least stayed up following promotion from League One last season.

The Lilywhites had their four-game unbeaten run (W2 D2) ended by a 2-0 home defeat to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

  • Birmingham have won their past two league games against Preston, and are looking to complete the double over the Lilywhites for the first time since 2000-01.

  • Preston have lost 1-0 in their past two league games against Birmingham. They last lost three in a row without scoring against the Blues between 1925 and 1935.
