Pat McAfee was present in Orton’s corner during the start of the match. However, he was taken by Jelly Roll and stretchered to the back. The 38-year-old returned later during the match when the referee was knocked out. He tried to help Randy win by working as an official. However, after a failed three-count attempt, the Legend Killer took out Pat with an RKO. Cody Rhodes, meanwhile, capitalised on the distraction and laid Orton out with a Cross Rhodes to pick up the win.

Pat McAfee later took to X to react to the betrayal from the Apex Predator, indicating that he does not understand the latter’s actions, as he was just trying to help:

“I WAS JUST TRYING TO HELP”- he posted

Randy Orton also destroyed Cody Rhodes after losing the WWE Championship match

While Cody Rhodes came out on top in the Undisputed WWE Championship match, the American Nightmare’s victory celebration was short-lived as he was attacked by Randy Orton after the match. The Legend Killer even used the Punt Kick against his former friend, leaving him bloodied in the ring to close the show.

The post-match angle proves that the feud between Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes is far from over. While the American Nightmare was able to walk back on his own after the show, it was revealed in the post-WrestleMania show that he has been placed in the concussion protocol and has a swollen left eye, and thus, could be out for some time.

The feud will, however, continue without Pat McAfee’s involvement, as he is likely done with WWE. The former NFL star promised the end of his pro wrestling career if Randy failed to win against Cody Rhodes.
