Whilst OGC Nice remain threatened by relegation, the situation could have certainly been worse if not for Elye Wahi’s (23) arrival mid-season. The former France youth international, who now represents the Ivory Coast national team, arrived on loan from Eintracht Frankfurt back in January.
Since joining, he has scored four goals in 11 appearances in Ligue 1. His entrance of the bench against SCO Angers, most notably, changed the course of the game as Nice won 2-0. That is one of only two wins in the league for Le Gym in 2026.

Whilst there remains a great deal of uncertainty around the club – at all levels – the club are keen to retain Wahi for next season, if possible, as confirmed by the club’s co-president, Maurice Cohen. “We would like to keep him. In football, everything is possible. He is a very endearing young man,” began Cohen in an interview with Ici Azur.
When Wahi joined the club on loan, no buy option was included in the deal, meaning that there would have to be fresh talks with Eintracht Frankfurt. Cohen confirmed that no such talks had yet taken place. “We can’t have any before we know if we are in Ligue 1 next season. We would like to renew his loan,” the co-president added.
