Official: Real Madrid defender ruled out for two weeks with fractured foot

Real Madrid have been dealt another setback ahead of the final stretch of the season, with Dani Carvajal officially ruled out through injury.

The Spanish club released a medical statement confirming the extent of Carvajal’s problem, adding further concern to an already difficult campaign.

Following medical tests, the club confirmed the diagnosis, stating,

“Following tests carried out on our player Dani Carvajal by Real Madrid’s Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a fracture of the distal phalanx of the fifth toe on his right foot. To be assessed further.”

While the official statement did not give a recovery timeline, AS suggest the defender could be sidelined for around two weeks.

Matches Carvajal will miss

Based on that timeframe, Carvajal is expected to miss key fixtures against Espanyol, Barcelona and Real Oviedo, with the clash against Sevilla also in doubt.

However, there remains a possibility that he could return in time for the final match of the season against Athletic Club.

That fixture could carry added significance, as it may end up being his last appearance for the club.

This is because Carvajal’s current deal is nearing its end, and there has been no confirmation of a renewal so far.

This injury therefore arrives at a crucial moment, both for the team and for the player himself.

Missing important matches could impact his chances of finishing the season strongly and influencing any decision regarding his future.

Notably, the 2025/26 season has been particularly challenging for Carvajal.

Limited game time has already restricted his impact, with the defender managing just 885 minutes across all competitions.

Under Alvaro Arbeloa, opportunities have been hard to come by, and this latest setback only adds to his struggles.

Ultimately, the lack of minutes has also affected his international ambitions, with hopes of pushing for a place in Spain’s World Cup squad taking a significant hit.
