This has prompted some fans to urge the SmackDown star to leave the sports entertainment juggernaut for AEW. Check out some of the reactions below:
WWE star Sami Zayn breaks his silence amid backlash following his United States Championship win
At one point, it looked like WWE didn’t have any WrestleMania plans for Sami Zayn. However, Sami was not about to sit back and watch the Showcase of Immortals from home. Therefore, he took things into his own hands and answered Carmelo Hayes’ open challenge on the 27th March episode of SmackDown. During the match, Trick Williams came out to the ringside. Williams tried to cost Sami the bout, but he ended up accidentally hitting Hayes. Sami capitalized on this and picked up the win. However, fans have not been happy about the way he won. In fact, the video of Sami winning the United States Title has more dislikes than likes.
Following this win, Sami Zayn took to social media to send a heartfelt message to the fans.
“Big thank you to my fans. These past few months especially have been tumultuous, and you’ve had my back when times were tough. Now we are heading to Wrestlemania together, and I am walking in as a champion. Lots of love -SZ,” he wrote.
Sami will now defend the title against Trick Williams at WrestleMania 42.
