• A Fast & Furious TV show is coming from Peacock.
  • Vin Diesel said there are four shows in development.
  • Diesel said fans have ‘wanted us to expand the legacy characters, their stories.’

After 11 movies and one spin-off, the Fast & Furious saga will continue to play out on the small screen. Franchise star Vin Diesel announced Monday that there could be as many as four TV shows coming, though he might have been a bit ambitious.

Variety reported this week that only one show is currently in development for Peacock, citing a source with “knowledge of the situation.” Regardless, Diesel said:

‘For the last decade, we have realized that the fans have wanted more. They wanted us to expand the legacy characters, their stories.’

He added that he had to wait for the right time to ensure the “family would be protected in the TV space… The news that I have here today is that Peacock is launching four shows from the Fast & Furious universe.” The other shows are allegedly in various stages of development.

It’s unclear when the TV show will premiere. The next, and likely final, Fast & Furious movie will hit theaters 27 years after the first one on March 17, 2028. It’s called Fast Forever and will conclude the events of 2023’s Fast X in the long-running franchise that hit theaters in 2001.

Motor1’s Take: It will be interesting to see if Universal can translate the high-octane action that the movies are famous for to the small screen. Budgets are smaller, but maybe television is the perfect medium to tell these stories.
