• Porsche set a lap time of 6:55.533 with the Taycan Turbo GT Manthey.
  • The sedan was 9.0 seconds quicker than the next electric executive car.
  • The Manthey upgrade increases the car’s output to 979 horsepower in Attack Mode.

The Nürburgring has been a popular spot this year. Ford and Chevrolet went back and forth, fighting for America’s quickest lap time—but they haven’t been alone. Volkswagen took the GTI around the ‘Ring for a record lap, and so did Porsche in a 911 GT3 Manthey. Now, Porsche has done it again with the Taycan Turbo GT Manthey.

The Taycan Turbo GT Manthey lapped the track in 6:55.533. That’s still not as quick as the Corvette ZR1X, Mustang GTD, or even the 911 GT3 Manthey, but it is the quickest of the niche “electric executive cars” segment, beating the previous record by more than nine seconds.

Porsche test driver Lars Kern piloted the upgraded Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach Package around the track, beating his October 2023 record by 12.0 seconds. Kerns said:

‘The Manthey Kit turns the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package into the ultimate track tool. On the Nordschleife, you can feel how much more stability and confidence the car offers in fast sections and when braking.’

Taycan Turbo GT Manthey Kit Upgrades

The Taycan Turbo GT Manthey features several unique upgrades to the suspension, braking, and powertrain. The EV now makes 804 horsepower, 27 hp more than before, and in Attack Mode, the output jumps to 979 hp, up from 939 hp. The top speed increases to 193 miles per hour.

The Taycan has larger brakes measuring 17.3 inches in the front and 16.1 inches in the rear. They hide behind 21-inch forged aluminum wheels, wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS rubber, that are larger than the standard ones but also lighter, reducing unsprung mass by 6.6 pounds.

The car also receives a new aero package featuring an adjustable rear wing with enlarged end plates, an optimized front diffuser, and a high-performance rear diffuser with extended fins. It also has underbody air deflectors and rear-wheel aero discs.

The added aerodynamic bits increase the car’s downforce at 120 mph from 209.4 pounds to 683.4 lbs. Other visual upgrades include carbon-fiber wheel-arch vents, wheel-arch extensions, and widened side skirts.

The new Manthey package is available for every Taycan Turbo GT equipped with the Weissach Package.

Motor1’s Take: It’s not often you see an upgrade package on an electric vehicle result in more power, but Mathey is different, with Porsche owning a majority of the aftermarket specialists. The extra power, aero upgrades, and improved brakes take the Taycan to the next level.
