Now, in the main event of the latest edition of the blue brand’s show, the self-proclaimed Indie God locked horns with The Viper. The former Zack Ryder couldn’t do much against The Apex Predator due to his injury and ended up losing the bout.

Matt Cardona has now taken to his X/Twitter to send a message. The former United States Champion noted that he did not compete against Randy Orton on SmackDown to win; instead, he just wanted to show The Viper that he cannot get away with what he did last week.

“Last night I was in the main event of #SmackDown… @RandyOrton injured my arm last week. I didn’t want to fight Randy last night to win. I was fighting to show Randy that he can’t just go around and do whatever he wants and expect to get away with it. I was at a disadvantage, but that’s not an excuse. I wanted the fight, and I got my a** kicked. I lost,” he wrote.

Cardona then revealed that he was not supposed to be in the main event of SmackDown, as he was initially planned to make an appearance at Squared Circle Expo.

“Originally, I was supposed to be at @SquarCircleExpo last night. (Check out the @CollectMajor booth all weekend) I was gone from @WWE for almost 6 years. Every weekend, I’d be at different wrestling shows doing whatever it took to get back to WWE. I got back. I was in the main event of SmackDown last night. I’ll take that as a win. I’M NOT FINISHED!”

WWE star Randy Orton brawled with Cody Rhodes after facing Matt Cardona

After defeating Matt Cardona, Randy Orton celebrated inside the ring. However, his celebration was cut short when Cody Rhodes made an appearance. The American Nightmare came out to exact revenge for what his former Legacy teammate did to him a few weeks ago.

Both stars attacked each other before they were separated by security personnel. Singer Jelly Roll also came out to calm the situation down. However, Orton ended up hitting Roll with a vicious RKO before leaving the ring.

Despite turning heel and attacking everyone in his path, The Viper is being cheered by fans. It will be interesting to see what the Triple H-led creative team has planned for Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 42.
