Less than 10 days until the start of the 2026 NFL Draft and Eagles GM Howie Roseman and head coach Nick Sirianni sat down with reporters to talk about their plan for building the roster through the draft and other free agency moves.

The GM and head coach spoke about the team’s newest WR addition, Dontayvion Wicks, and how the trade gives the team more depth at receiver. It wasn’t long after their initial comments that Howie was asked whether they added extra depth in an effort to minimize the roster impact of trading A.J. Brown. The GM teased reporters for expecting a different answer than what he’s given this whole offseason.

“What do you think the odds are that I’m answering this question differently than I answered anywhere else. Really, do you think it’s 50 percent, 75 percent?

A.J. Brown’s an Eagle.“

And while they wouldn’t talk about how Wick’s addition may impact Brown’s future with the team, they did talk about why they were interested in adding the young receiver.

“[Dontayvion Wicks] is a player that we’ve followed — obviously we played Green Bay a bunch of times, you see his skillset. I mean, he’s a physical, explosive player at the top of routes, he can play inside or out. So he’s a guy that we had our eye on here, and then bringing in some of these Green Bay guys — some of the hardest parts of our job is the co-hab part, not understanding who the person is. So, when you get a chance to bring in some of these new coaches and talk about some of the players and the skillsets, and then know how they are in the building, it makes you even more confident when you make an acquisition.”

Roseman admitted that over the years, they’ve gotten lucky with the depth they’ve had at wide receiver, but one of their priorities this offseason was to add to the talent and depth of the receiver room specifically.

Sirianni echoed Roseman’s notes about Wicks at the top of the route, and said that the receiver’s toughness really stood out on tape. The head coach said that they’re also excited to add his ability to get separation and some of the other things he’ll bring to the WR room.

Eagles fans will just have to continue waiting, and speculating, about whether A.J. Brown will be on the roster this season, and until then, can at least feel comfortable knowing the team is prioritizing depth at receiver regardless.
